Valet parking now available in the Village

20th April 2006

There is now valet parking available in the village of Rancho Santa Fe. Just drop your car off in front of the Rancho Santa Fe Properties office (across from the Inn) and let the valet take care of the rest.

Here is an article that appeared in the Rancho Santa Fe Review about the Valet parking situation:

“To help revive retail business in the RSF Village — which has suffered due to lack of parking space — Village merchants have joined forces to offer a valet parking service on Paseo Delicias between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the week for shoppers, customers and restaurant patrons. The valet service began on Monday, April 3.

For a fee of $5 visitors to the Village can have their car parked by Pacific Valet. The cars will be parked in the Christian Science Church parking lot where 40 spaces are available, says Mille Fleurs owner Bertrand Hug who helped spearhead the program. “The church generously agreed to lease the parking space to us for a reduced fee,” Hug said.

Hug said he and other merchants helped fund the first month of the program and they are hoping the RSF Association will provide funding of about $7,500 for the remaining five months of the six-month trial period for the service.

“Because there has been no parking for so long retail business during the day has dropped dramatically in the Village,” said Hug who added that the Village Merchants Association has also been revived. “For years the RSF Village drew people from all over but with retail dwindling some of that charm has been lost. We think that by providing better access to the businesses in Rancho Santa Fe it will revive retail and bring back some excitement to the Village.”

RSF Village property owner and RSF Association Planning Committee member Marion Dodson agreed, saying, “Parking is an old problem in Rancho Santa Fe; I have been after the Association to do something about the problem for more than 20 years. We need to have another supply of parking and this is an effort to provide that parking.”

A request for funding of the valet program will likely be brought to the RSF Association board within the next month.”
