Viewpoints Lecture on The Healthy Brain

On Wednesday, May 9th the Rancho Santa Fe community will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to maintain good brain health for a long and happy life. The event is through the Village Viewpoints and is being co-presented by The Village Church and The RSF Foundation. The panel discussion will be from 6:30-8:00, and will include time for questions from the audience. Experts in the panel are Dr. Tom Flanagan, Dr. Dee Silver, and Ms. Muffy Walker. Members leading the discussions are experts in the fields of Neuroscience and psychology. Discussions will range from the latest breakthroughs in understanding brain health and the causes, preventions and treatments of mood disorders and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. The objective of the panel is to help the attendees learn how a person’s genetics, life style, age, and chance will be a great influence on one’s quality of life as they age. Artist in our Midst

Friday, March 23, 2012 an Art Exhibit and Reception is being hosted at The Village Community Church in Rancho Santa Fe. The exhibition will show off the talent of our local artists and will feature a variety of art forms including painting, sculpture, crafting and more. Having seen some of the preview pieces we can confidentiality say the Rancho Santa Fe community have a multitude of extraordinary talented artist. The event is open to the public and there is no charge for entry. More information on the show and the artists being featured can be found in on the Village Church website.

Farmer’s Market in Rancho Santa Fe

Don’t miss the Farmers market this weekend. The market offers a variety of foods, herbs and products. You can browse the stalls and find everything from fresh vegetables, fruits to foods like breads, meats and more. You can also find oils, honeys, jams and more. It is a great place to go and just walk around and see what people have brought to the market. More information about the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market can be found on their website.

Websites Protesting SOPA and PIPA

If you have been browsing online today I am sure you have noticed that there are a few interesting occurrences on some the major websites around the web. Today websites that are opposed to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) are protesting to increase awareness about the acts. How are they protesting? Visit Google and you can see what might be mistaken for one of their many Doodle’s but instead the logo is completely censored out by a black bar. Google is just one of the many websites participating in the protest and some sites like Craigslist and Wikipedia have completely blocked their main sites and devoted their home to the protest.

The overall message the protest is trying to convey is that both the SOPA and PIPA act are going to push the boundaries of the government’s control of the Internet into dangerous territory. China is an example of a country that already has the government restrictions proposed in the SOPA and PIPA acts.
