Rancho Santa Fe Board Election

Ballots for the Rancho Santa Fe Association board election will be mailed out today (May 19th). Ballots will be mailed out to registered Association members and are due back by 5 p.m. on June 1. Ballots will be counted June 2 and results for the new Rancho Santa Fe Board members will be announced the same day.
The three candidates are RSF Association members Lois Jones, Steve Shillington and Frank Smith. They are vying for two seats vacated by directors Ken Bien and Ron McMahon when their three-year terms on the board expire at the end of June.
To help Covenant residents decide, below is a reprint of the candidates’ biographies and answers to questions on issues of community concern.

Lois Jones: Lois has lived in the RSF Covenant for 14 years and is a Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, food manufacturer in No. Orange County. She is married to Matt Jones, has two sons (Alex, is 21 at college USC and Parker who is 14 at RSF School)
Community activities: •Former board member, RSF Community Center, •Former board member, Voices For Children, local CASA organization •RSF School Room mother more years than I can remember, also on Halloween •Carnival committee a few times •14-year member San Dieguito Planning Group; five years chair, six years current secretary •Current board member and parliamentarian/secretary — Friends of San Pasqual Academy

Steve Shillington:
Steve and his wife, Audrey, have two sons, John and Kaleb, currently attending the Rowe school. A graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, Shillington has owned and managed a series of commercial property holding corporations for over 22 years and is currently co-owner of Tree Court Investments LLC, an industrial properties holding company.
Member: RSF Garden Club and RSF Library Guild. In training with RSF Fire Protection District for Community Emergency Response.

Frank L. Smith: Frank has lived in the Rancho Santa Fe covenant with his wife Jeri for 16 years. Education: BS Naval Science US Naval Academy 1966; Master’s in public administration (MPA) University of Rhode Island 1973; Post graduate studies in finance and accounting, American University 1976. Attended USD Law School 1995-1996.
Occupation: President, Foresters Equity Services, a limited service broker-dealer and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Foresters, a Toronto-based fraternal benefit society. Family: Wife: Jeri; three children: Gillian (27) design director for Bumble & Bumble, Manhattan; Michael (23) just starting a real estate career in Newport Beach, Calif.; and Mercedes (20) a junior at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Calif.
Community activities: Member RSF Tennis Club since 1990; Board of directors RSF Foundation 1999-2000; Member Division of Services Committee RSF 2005; Board of directors San Diego Museum of Natural History 2006 – Present
